An end to Zespri's kiwifruit dominance unwelcome

Having more than one kiwifruit exporter in New Zealand is seen as a “recipe for disaster.”

ACT’s primary industry spokesman and former Federated Farmers’ president Don Nicolson has renewed calls for market deregulation of the $1.1 billion industry.

His plea comes on the back of recent comments from kiwifruit co-operative Satara’s departing managing director Tom Wilson, who has raised concerns about Zespri’s monopoly.
