Experts warn against mobile transactions

Two Australian academics are warning that mobile transactions are far less secure and more exploitable than making a transaction via computer.

Asha Rao, an associate professor at RMIT in Melbourne, says smart phones and tablets are essentially small computers but their security has been “dumbed down”.

“I don’t do any banking from my smart phone because the bank requires me to go through security checks on my computer but on a smart phone it’s just passwords.”
