Analyst sacked for refusing 'criminal' foreign exchange trade

Brokerage firm Renaissance Investments and Finance Group has been ordered to pay a financial analyst almost half his salary for wrongfully sacking him.

Richard Hao Zhu was seconded to China to start a new branch of Renaissance and dismissed when he did not follow instructions to carry out the foreign exchange trading it requested.

Mr Zhu told the Employment Relations Authority he believed that form of foreign exchange trading contravened Chinese laws and would have amounted to a criminal offence.
