Climate change worries cause further fracking delay

The long awaited Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment's report on fracking is now not likely to see the light of day until late May.

The commission was to have delivered its final report by the middle of last year.

Commissioner Jan Wright released an interim report on fracking in November 2012: this gave a guarded thumbs up to the practice, but noted that while it has some significant opportunities for New Zealand there are also risks and a satisfactory regulatory regime will be needed.
