Government’s 'risky' Novopay strategy

Labour says the government’s focus on recovering Novopay overpayments is “risky” when the teacher payroll system still has bugs.

Novopay Minister Steven Joyce today announced the government’s focus is recovering a $10.4 million backlog of overpayments. About $3.1 million of overpayments has already been repaid and $62,000 has been written off, Mr Joyce says.

Mr Joyce also revealed the government is injecting an extra $6 million into technical support and training for Novopay support staff and school payroll administrators.
