GST-free purchases arise from 'failure of Customs'

Purchases by New Zealanders from international electronic commerce companies are costing this country hundreds of millions of dollars, says the chief executive of Booksellers New Zealand Lincoln Gould. 

“One of the real problems we face here in New Zealand is the GST issue. It’s a 15% challenge before any bookshop opens its doors. It’s really time the government sorted it out,” Mr Gould says.
