GUEST OPINION: Harcourts building owner acting childishly over demolition


While I’m critical of the irrational zealotry with much of the preservation clamour, I (and many others in the capital’s commercial property world) have no sympathy for Mark Dunajtschik in respect of Harcourts building, given the history of it and the adjacent HSBC tower. 

When the tower was developed in the 1990s, Mark was among many approached to be an investor-owner.  Subsequently he increased his shareholdings and eventually took control.
