Liquor ban defiance justifies port workers’ sacking: court

A port worker’s challenge of his sacking has been dismissed by the Employment Court.

Andy Nathan and colleague Henry Nee Nee were sacked by Ports of Auckland stevedoring firm C3 over a drinking incident on February 2 2012, despite a liquor ban.

The ban was implemented after an incident in September 2011, in which a serious assault resulted in a worker falling down a stairway and becoming badly injured.
