Major US funding kickstarts Kiwi surgical device company Enztec

Christchurch-based medical device manufacturer Enztec says it is poised for growth after the closure of a $US27.5 million debt financing by parent company Orthopaedic Synergy, Inc (OSI).

The new funding is targeted at Enztec’s sister company – Massachusetts-based OMNILife Science, an established developer of hip and knee implant replacement products.

About one-third of Enztec’s business comes from OMNI, which is targeting the $15 billion global hip and knee replacement medical device sector with its computer-assisted robotic cutting guide technology.
