Misconduct of disbarred barrister indicates a ‘flaw of character’ — High Court

He has received a few slaps on the wrist in recent years and now barrister Murray Withers has lost his High Court appeal to keep his practicing certificate.

In December the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal unanimously agreed to strike the Christchurch lawyer off the roll of barristers and solicitors. This penalty followed a July hearing for three charges of professional misconduct brought by a standards committee of the NZ Law Society.
