NZ in for biggest patent law shakeup in 60 years

Patent law is seeing its biggest shakeup in 60 years as new legislation is set to take effect next September.

The Patents Bill replaces the Patents Act 1953 and calls for a host of new rules from how a patent application is processed to what can be considered for a patent. Among the changes is a provision which makes applications public after 18 months, whether they’ve been approved or not.
