Passenger backlog clearing as airport fog lifts
Flight-clogging fog atAuckland airport has lifted with flights back to normal as Air New Zealand clears passenger backlog.
Air New Zealand delayed or cancelled at least 50 regional flights yesterday and another 18 today because of the thick pea soup.
The flights were bound for a number of regional destinations from the Bay of Islands to Blenheim.
"All domestic and international jet services are still running to schedule," Ms Sneaton says.
Auckland Airport spokesman Richard Llewellyn says there is not a huge backlog of flights and process of clearing that has now begun.
Weather Watch head weather analyst Philip Duncan says the fog is still affecting other airports.
"Fog appears to have delayed flights from Dunedin, while Hamilton and Christchurch are all reporting flights cancelled or delayed due to fog."
Mr Duncan is picking a clear weekend ahead for Auckland travellers but the possibility of more fog next week.
"A huge high is set to roll in next week, making conditions ideal for fog, so we can probably expect more."
