Police lose new evidence bid in Countdown liquor ban case
Fresh evidence from new witnesses cannot be introduced into Countdown’s appeal of a week-long liquor ban, the High Court at Auckland has ruled.
Countdown Takapuna is appealing an Alcohol Regulatory Licensing Authority decision that found the supermarket had sold liquor to an intoxicated person.
According to the authority’s decision, the supermarket’s CCTV footage revealed the customer, Adam McBride, was seen to almost stumble as he approached the checkout and swayed backwards and forwards excessively.
