SUBSCRIBER-ONLY POLL RESULT: Readers’ verdict on Chinese company’s $212m dairy plant

NBR ONLINE readers overwhelmingly support a Chinese company being allowed to build a $212 million dairy processing plant south of Auckland.

The Overseas Investment Office this week granted approval for Yashili International Holdings, which makes and distributes infant milk formula products in China, to build its proposed plant in Pokeno.

A poll of NBR ONLINE paid subscribers found nearly nine out of 10 (86%) thought the OIO had made the right decision, while about one in seven (14%) disagreed with Yashili being given approval.
