Progressive loses fight over Coromandel site

A High Court judge has ruled Progressive is too late to stop a Coromandel supermarket site falling into its rival Foodstuffs’ hands. 

As well as owning about 160 Countdown sites, Progressive also franchises out SuperValue stores, smaller outlets dubbed “community-based supermarkets” through Progressive subsidiary Wholesale Distributors. 

Earlier this month Progressive asked Justice Simon Moore in the High Court at Auckland for an injunction to stop the sale of the Pauanui SuperValue for $1.28 million to Matt and Amanda Iggulden.
