Should quake-prone heritage building be saved?

The High Court at Wellington will hear arguments today over the fate of the Harcourts building in the capital’s Lambton Quay.

Wellington developer Mark Dunajtschik is appealing an Environment Court ruling which blocked his plans to demolish the 85-year-old building.

He wants resource consent to demolish the heritage 1 listed building,  which is currently vacant. He plans to build a 25-storey tower on the site.
