Skepticism over ANZ strike action

A senior legal commentator has raised doubts over whether ANZ workers will be able to strike with effect over their employer.

This week almost 85% of the 1324 First Union members who work for the bank have voted to take strike action nationwide, in objection to an employment agreement offer, which includes a flexible rostering clause for front-line staff.

University of Auckland law professor Bill Hodge says the agreement needs to be studied in detail but there are parallels to the bitter Ports of Auckland battle.
