Stupid lawyer fights dishonesty charge
Secrecy surrounds a senior lawyer’s allegedly dishonest dealings with a client’s estate.
He may have been stupid but not dishonest, Queen’s counsel John Katz told Chief High Court Judge Helen Winkelmann in Auckland High Court today.
The Auckland lawyer – in court today and identified only as “S” – has appealed a New Zealand Law Society charge which resulted in him being found guilty of professional misconduct.
The law society charge related to alleged payment to non-beneficiares of an estate.
