Two buyers vie to seal Soho deal

Two bidders were battling it out today to buy the beleagured Ponsonby site known as Soho Square from receivers.The 1.3ha site on the corner of Ponsonby Rd and Williamson Ave was to have been developed into a high end residential and retail complex with cafes and 1250 carparks before receivers were called to failed developer Campbell Layne Kells' company Soho Square in December.It sold to Beaumont Quarter purchaser Innovus but the deal collapsed in July.Strategic Finance had a $50 million exposure over the site.
