ANZ, BNZ and Westpac unveil relief packages.
ANZ, BNZ and Wespac have each pledged to donate $1 million toward Canturbury quake relief efforts.
ANZ (which includes the National Bank) said it would also suspend repayments on all loans, including credit cards, for up to three months (with interest capitalised).
BNZ said it would extend a customer relief package introduced after the September 4 quake.
Westpac said its relief package for affected retail and business customers would include temporary overdrafts and repayment holidays on home loans
Local Westpac managers have been given discretion over how they implement the measures, the bank said in a statement.
Bruce Thompson from Kiwibank said they would not be matching the donations made by the other banks, as they did not have the resources of the Australian banks, but that Kiwibank had already made a direct donation that they had not announced publicly. He said the bank was also helping its customers in other ways, by providing services and home loan packages.
