Passengers can from today fly domestically on Air New Zealand for up to $10 cheaper. The airline now has a carry-on luggage only fare option available on all regional and domestic jet services. The lead-in prices for the new fares will be $10 less than the lead-in prices for Seat + Bag airfares.

“Seats to Suit is the flexible fare structure Air New Zealand introduced 14 months ago on Tasman and Pacific Island flights and its outstanding success means we are extending it to include our domestic services as well,” said Air New Zealand Group Australasia airline general manager Bruce Parton.

This new option extends the three existing baggage-inclusive fare levels of grabaseat, Smart Saver and Flexi plus.

Mr Parton said while the fare changes would likely benefit some business travellers. "Generally though, a lot of the business travellers are buying the flexible fares."

He said he anticipated there to be a review of the premium end of the market in the next six months, "especially the loyalty aspect of how we operate in New Zealand."
