The Commerce Commission has cleared Fletcher Building's bid to buy Australia's Crane Group.
The Commerce Commission has cleared Fletcher Building's bid to buy Australia's Crane Group.
Commerce Commission chairman Mark Berry said the Commission was satisfied that the proposed acquisition wouldn't substantially lessening competition in any of the relevant markets.
He said the Commission's investigation focused mainly on the manufacture and supply of pipes and pipe systems.
Dr Berry said the merged entity is likely to be constrained by the presence of existing competitors who have the ability to easily expand, and the countervailing power of large customers.
