The trials and tribulations of two high-profile property developers and financiers were in the spotlight this week.
NBR court reporter Hamish McNicol today reports in NBR’s print edition how the Australian Securities and Investment Commission “does not believe” it needs to take further steps on allegations made against former Blue Chip boss Mark Bryers.
Mr McNicol says Bryers is alleged to have been illegally managing a group of companies in Australia which have collapsed owing many, many millions.
But ASIC last week updated its stance on Bryers, while also calling for any other information people may have.
Earlier in the week, former Strategic Finance director Paul Bublitz was back in court.
Mr McNicol says Mr Bublitz and four other defendants are due to stand trial as a result of FMA allegations surrounding the multimillion dollar collapse of Viaduct Capital and Mutual Finance in February next year.
But this week Mr Bublitz sought a delay to the 12-week trial in order for him to be able to pay for a lawyer – which he says will be possible once a Queenstown property development is completed.
