Fletcher Building has appointed the head of Foodstuffs, Tony Carter, to its board as an independent director starting from September 1.
Mr Carter is managing director of Foodstuffs, which operates the Pak n' Save, New World and Four Square chains, although he will leave Foodstuffs at the end of the year.
He formerly owned a number of Mitre 10 hardware stores, and was chairman of Mitre 10 NZ. He is also a non-executive director of network operator Vector.
Fletcher Building also said director Sir Dryden Spring will step down at the end of October after 11 years with the board, in line with company policy.
