Former Fisher & Paykel Appliances boss John Bongard has been appointed as a director of Tourism Holdings.
Mr Bongard stepped down as chief executive of Fisher & Paykel last September, retiring after a battle with prostate cancer.
He spent 36 years with the company in a variety of roles and was instrumental in developing new markets, manufacturing expansions and global brand development.
Mr Bongard is also a director of Netball New Zealand and is involved in the New Zeal Foundation focused on assisting South Auckland youth.
In a statement today, Tourism Holdings chairman said Mr Bongard had positively addressed his health issues.
