Google launching Circles, a hot new social networking service ... or maybe not

Search giant denies reports.

ReadWriteWeb has reported that Google is to launch a major social service that offers photo, video and status message sharing, called Google Circles.

While Google denied the site of the launch, it reportedly did not deny that the service existed and ReadWriteWeb says it has had confirmation that the service exists and “that it’s awesome”.

The service will apparently only share with a user’s “most appropriate circle,” rather than their contact list en masse.

Reportedly involved is Chris Messina, co-creator of Hashtags, BarCamp and more.

However Google apparently told another technology blogger, Liz Gannes of The Wall Street Journal's All Things D blog, that there was no such product under development and that Mr Messina had no idea what the story was talking about.
