Retailer Hallenstein Glasson Holdings' new chief executive is Stephen Timms, whose most recent position was group chief operating officer for Ascendia Retail in Australia.

Hallenstein Glasson chairman Warren Bell said the appointment was the result of an extensive executive search.

Mr Timms had significant experience in the retail industry, having held senior positions in Australia and America.

Before working at Ascendia he held senior positions with DFS in a career spanning 13 years, including managing director DFS Mid-Pacific, and more recently managing director, Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia.

Hallenstein Glasson acting chief executive Roy Dillon will leave the job on March 31.
