New Zealand's largest airport is delaying major expansion plans after run-ins with an airline and the Commerce Commission.

In disclosures to the NZX today, Auckland International Airport (NZX: AIA) has removed the proposed northern runway from its 10-year plan and is undertaking yet further consultation on a new domestic terminal.

That is despite significant congestion at peak times in the domestic terminal and only "modest" opportunities to get more aircraft on the existing runway.
