Govt spares no expense to block Susan Couch's compo claim

Crown Law has spent almost half a million dollars of taxpayer money fighting Susan Couch’s exemplary damages claim against the Corrections Department.

It is almost as much as Ms Couch, the sole survivor of the horrific 2001 Mt Wellington-Panmure RSA killings, is claiming.

The figures were obtained by NBR ONLINE after an Official Information Act request.

They include, in part, Crown Law’s costs in fighting another claim by Tai Hobson, whose wife Mary was one of three killed in the same murderous rampage.
