Petrol tax rise needs to be passed on
Road transport lobbyists want freight companies to pass on to consumers any road user charges they face.
Transport minister Gerry Brownlee has today signalled an increase to petrol excise tax and road user charges.
Both charges are increasing by nine cents spread evenly over the next three years.
Road Transport Forum ceo and former Act MP Ken Shirley told NBR ONLINE he has been indicating to his members for some months to expect this increase.
He says New Zealand is in catch-up mode.
