Hamilton City Council vs Tainui High Court battle heats up

Hamilton mayor Bob Simcock is bitterly disappointed by a High Court decision that he says gives Tainui Group Holdings more rights than any other property owner in the city but Tainui says the council will be wasting taxpayer money if it appeals. Justice Christopher Allen High Court had ruled in favour of Tainui's claim that the council had not consulted with it about a plan change that would have stopped Tainui expanding their $200 million development The Base.
