Herald & Stuff can teach consumers 'net can’t always be free' – Vodafone CEO

Vodafone chief executive Russell Stanners says Fairfax and APN should lead the way in teaching consumers the internet can’t always be free by introducing paid subscription models.

Mr Stanners says the culture of “everything on the internet should be free” has become ingrained in many consumers and online newspapers have the potential to drive the notion that this can’t continue.

The Vodafone boss says feedback from its customers shows they want communication technology prices to come down, and have suggested Vodafone should make more revenue through advertising.
