Japan is key to TPP no matter how 'difficult' – US Trade Rep

The top negotiator for the United States’ delegation to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) says Japan’s continued participation in the talks is critical.

US Trade Representative (USTR) Michael Froman continues to speak bilaterally to the Japanese trade representatives but told a Council on Foreign Relations event in New York on Tuesday that progress was being made.

The TPP’s requirement for removing all tariffs on agricultural goods between members is a burning issue for particular lobby groups in Japan, as well as Canada.
