Key’s bold step left


John Key’s education announcements today – it is impossible to call them reforms – represent a bold step left.

As the left-leaning Dominion-Post political reporter Vernon Small has observed, Mr Key’s speech was a clever and formidable foray into Labour’s heartland of left-leaning women, education unions and other voters nattering about inequality.

Echoing 20 years of union demands, Mr Key says it is time for more collaboration in the school system.
