Labour explains mining debate loophole

The government and opposition are at loggerheads over whether mining in national parks is already technically possible – and a loophole in 2005 policy is to blame.Speaking in the House on 25 March, Labour conservation spokesman David Parker asked whether the Minister of Conservation intended to amend the National Parks Act 1980 to enable mining in national parks.
