Law Society turns spotlight on top legal aid lawyer

High-profile Auckland barrister Charl Hirschfeld, who was paid about $8 million from taxpayer-funded legal aid over four years, is facing disciplinary proceedings.

New Zealand Law Society president Jonathan Temm confirmed to NBR ONLINE Mr Hirschfeld, brother of Maori TV senior executive Carol Hirschfeld, is the subject of a law society standards committee inquiry regarding his legal aid work.
