NZ retailers lack mobile sites – losing to overseas sites

It’s no secret that New Zealand retailers are losing big time to offshore sites that offer low prices and surprisingly fast delivery.

However, a new study has revealed another reason for the trend – New Zealand retailers are failing to keep up with the demand for mobile sites.

A report by Twenty, a data agency, shows that out of 122 NZ retailers only 18% of their websites are optimised for mobile.

An Ericsson ConsumerLab study estimated that in December 2013 nearly two in three New Zealanders (63%) owned a smartphone.
