Timing crucial for $55m Forte building

The elephant in the room at last week’s opening of the $55 million Forte boutique hospital in Christchurch was – why it isn’t part of the government’s much vaunted health precinct?

The answer according to the spin doctors is “timing” – the professionals behind the hospital couldn’t wait around until the government and the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority to turn the first sod on the health precinct, which is effectively a rebuild and expansion of the main hospital.
