Top quake insurance lawyer censured by tribunal, ordered to pay $24k

Grant Shand, a self-professed “expert insurance lawyer,” has been censured by the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.

The Lawyers Standards Committee brought the charge against Mr Shand under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006. He admitted the charge and the tribunal ordered him to pay more than $24,000 in fines, fees and compensation.
