US to step up airline monitoring as Ebola epidemic hits Europe

The US is considering further measures to screen airline passengers arriving from the three Ebola-affected West African countries.

President Barack Obama says the move will strengthen those in place overseas after last week’s Ebola diagnosis in a man who arrived in Dallas from Liberia via Belgium.

The sense of urgency was deepened yesterday when Spain announced the first instance of a person contracting Ebola outside of West Africa.
