What Google's Australian court case means for NZ

A landmark decision in Australia involving internet search engine Google is unlikely to be a game changer for a local legal stoush, an Auckland lawyer says.

However, he says there might be a growing number of injunctions in this country seeking to prevent potential breaches of trademark on Google and other online advertising.

Earlier this month, the High Court of Australia ruled Google is not liable for misleading advertising or manipulated links – that is the problem of the company which placed the ad.
