Why 'Doctor' Doogue-little's courtroom shake-up is too little too late

Performance reviews are a fact of life in the workforce – but mention such a thing to those who inhabit the cloistered corridors of the courts and teeth will start gnashing.

Judges live in a different world to the rest of us and any attempt to make them meet key performance indicators would compromise their independence, impartiality and integrity.

Or so they stubbornly maintain, despite the practice of judges in jurisdictions like the United States being subject to a regular evaluation of their competence.
