Jade Software is pulling together New Zealand’s disparate and growing collection of iPhone and iPad application developers for the first time partly to capitalise on the collective creative vibe attendees will generate.
NZ iDev is backed by Jade but will be facilitated by open-source guru Nathan Torkington who brings the BarCamp un-conference format in what is billed as a dynamic schedule of events created as it is run slated for at least one day on December 4.
The conference will be held in Jade’s backyard in Christchurch and is devoted solely to unite New Zealand’s iOS developers.
Nat Torkington is a former editor at California-based O’Reilly Media, which created the BarCamp concept of user-generated conferences.
Mr Torkington has chaired a number of O’Reilly hosted conferences and co-wrote the Perl Cookbook with programming buddy Tom Christiansen more than a decade ago.
