Wellington’s Ronald McDonald House children’s hospital will be completely rebuilt at a $14 million cost following leaky issues in the existing Newtown structure.

More than $700,000 was spent on repairing the building since 1991, with recent problems including bathroom facilities coming away from walls and ceilings needing several replacements.

Resource consent was achieved last week for demolishing the existing structure and building a new one spanning the previous site and an adjacent section.
