HSBC has plucked the new new chief economist for its transtasman operations from the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Paul Bloxham will be HSBC’s main spokesperson on forecasts and trends for the economies of New Zealand and Australia and the way they interact with global financial markets and international economies.
Mr Bloxham spent 12 years as an economic analyst at the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he led the overseas economies and financial conditions sections within the economic analysis department, as well as working on domestic forecasting and prices.
He has had papers published on housing and household finances, as well as on asset prices and monetary policy. He holds a Master’s degree in public financial policy from the London School of Economics.
Paul Bloxham replaces John Edwards, who left HSBC to join the Bahrain Economic Development Board.
