Election 2014: The hows and whys of tax cuts

The whiff of tax cuts, possibly, maybe, floated across the election trail yesterday like the aroma of steak from the summer's first barbie. 

Prime Minister John Key appeared – at least according to some interpretations – to be rather more gung-ho about tax cuts than Finance Minister Bill English appeared to be at last week's pre-election economic and fiscal update (PREFU).
