Jenny Simpson joins Tonkin + Taylor board

Simpson is the second woman on the board and replaces coastal engineer, Richard Reinen-Hamill who stood down after 19 years.

Wed, 05 Jun 2019

Jenny Simpson was elected to the Tonkin + Taylor Group Board in late May at the Company’s AGM. She is the company’s head air quality engineer, an RMA Hearings Commissioner and one of New Zealand’s leading air quality experts. Because of this, much of her time is spent providing expert evidence at council and court hearings.

Simpson has just completed a major appointment as an accredited Independent RMA Commissioner for the Canterbury Air Regional Plan – the environmental equivalent of moving from witness box to the judge’s bench.

She has prepared assessments of discharges to air from a wide range of industrial facilities, waste management activities (landfills, transfer stations and composting facilities), infrastructure and thermal generation. Simpson has hands-on experience in managing hazardous substances and wastes in a variety of industrial settings.

Simpson has a BE (Chemical and Materials), is an accredited Independent RMA Commissioner and a former New Zealand Branch President of the Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand.
