One's royal wedding viewing options on TV
A right royal TV marathon is scheduled for today.
A right royal TV marathon is scheduled for today.
Today, keen royal-lovers will have more than five and a half hours of continuous wedding coverage to drink champagne to.
Pinky-finger outstretched, naturally.
Coverage on TV One and TV3 will start at 6pm, as Wendy Petrie broadcasting live from London. TVNZ.co.nz will also be live streaming the event.
Wedding guest bingo can commence from 7pm, as Mark Sainsbury broadcasts CloseUp from outside Westminister Abbey, as wedding guests arrive.
The British royals won’t start arriving until 9.30pm, a half-hour before the service starts at 10pm.
The service is scheduled to wrap up by 11.15pm. A Buckingham Palace balcony appearance (and “the traditional kiss”) is timed for about half-past midnight Kiwi time – as the Royal Air Force and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight do a fly past.
If, alas, you miss the actual event, you can set your TV to record a two hour wrap-up, scheduled for (ouch) 7am on Saturday April 30.
For a fictional spin on events, there’s Lifetime’s movie ‘William & Kate: Let Love Rule’, screening at 8.30pm, with Kiwi actor Nico Evers-Swindell taking the role of the titular royal.
But be warned. While some critics have called it, “so bad it’s good”, British newspaper the Guardian said it was, “so bad it's awful, toe-curlingly, teeth-furringly, pillow-bitingly ghastly”.
