Analysis: No more smile and wave

Some on the right have nicknamed the Prime Minister as “smile and wave” to indicate their view that he is not willing to risk unpopularity to do what is necessary to fix New Zealand. Bizarrely, this nickname has even been adopted by some Labour MPs, who don’t realise that aspiring Governments need to look more mature than bloggers.

But the events of the last couple of weeks have shown that the “smile and wave” nickname is not one that will last.
