Editor's Insight: Voters in two Australian states to dump Labor

State governments run by Labor are set to change hands after elections in both South Australia and Tasmania this weekend.

The states are laggards in an already weak Australian economy, thanks to Labor policies that have squeezed the private sector and bloated the public sector.

South Australia has been losing its share of the Australian economy for years, hurt by Labor policies that have favoured subsidies over competitiveness for failing industries, such as motor vehicles and smelting.
